Is it really necessary to be Bapized in the name of Jesus Christ – Yes

Is it necessary to be baptized in name of Jesus? First, let’s look at the definition: The word “baptize” come from the Greek Bapti-zein, meaning “to dip, to plunge.” Christian water baptism is an outward symbol that the one being baptized has made a complete, unreserved, and unconditional dedication through Jesus Christ to do the will of Jehovah God. The scriptures also refer to John’s baptism, baptism with holy spirit, and baptism with fire, among others. (This was in the reasoning book published by the Watchtower and Track society.)

Matthew 28:19, 20 says “Go therefore and make disciples of people of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.”

Acts 2:41 says “Those who embrace his word heartily were baptized.”

Acts 8:12 says “When they believed Philip, who was declaring the good news of the kingdom of God and of the name of Jesus Christ, they proceeded to be baptized, both men and women.”

Acts 8:36-38 says “Now as they were going over the road, they came to a certain body of water, and the (Ethiopian) eunuch said: ‘Look! A body of water; what prevents me form getting baptized?’ With that he commanded the chariot to halt, and ….(Philip baptized him).

So, as you can see people were baptized because they came to know Jesus. And in Matthew 28 you read that Jesus commanded for us to make disciples of people of all nations, and baptizing them. But, before you can become baptized you need to have knowledge and faith. And in order to have knowledge you need to study the Bible and apply what you learn. And as your knowledge grows so will your faith. You will also what to share what you learn with others. Jesus taught people all about God and his coming kingdom.  You can learn more in the book published by Watchtower and Track society  “What does the Bible really teach?”

What does it mean to be baptized “in the name of the Father and of the son and of the holy spirit? It means that a baptism candidate recognizes the authority of Jehovah God and of Jesus Christ. He also recognizes the function and activity of God’s holy spirit, or active force. Galatians 5:22, 23 says “On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

So, is it really necessary to be baptized in the name of Jesus? Yes, it is. But, baptism is not the only thing to do in order to become saved, you have to work at it. You need to do God’s will, learn what the Bible teaches and apply it to your life everyday. Even when you are alone, because really you’re never alone because God and Jesus are always watching.

Jesus is a model for us to follow. For 1 Peter 2:21 says “In fact, to this (course) you were called, because even Christ suffered for you, leaving you a model for you to follow his steps closely.” So, follow Jesus and do what John 17;3 says “This means everlasting life, them taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth Jesus Christ.”  Repent your sins and turn around and do what God whats you to, and be baptized in name of the Father, the Son and of the holy spirit.
