The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), a mercy to mankind from Allah, was a role model for Muslims in every aspect of life. He made beautiful and concise invocations that have been recorded in the books of Hadith. Invocations specifically referring to sickness and ill health have been compiled here. To ensure that a Muslim adopts only authentic acts and deeds that find basis in the Quran and Sunnah, the reference for each invocation is provided in brackets.
It is also important to mention here that, although a Muslim believes firmly that all sickness and all cure is from Allah alone, as a means of test, it does not mean that one should refrain from seeking medical treatment. In fact, one should do the utmost to treat the disease, consulting with doctors and taking regular medicine.
The ultimate hope and faith for healing should rest with Allah alone, as is His due right. The sick person should be encouraged to invocate for himself as much as possible and be hopeful that Allah will remove the disease. Also, it is highly recommended that the original Arabic text of these invocations be memorized, as those are the actual words of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and not approximate translations.

O Allah! Indeed I seek refuge in You from the decline of Your blessings, the removal of our state of well-being, the sudden onset of Your punishment and from all that displeases You. (Mishkaat)
O Allah! Indeed I seek refuge in You from weakness and laziness, and cowardice and senility and miserliness; and I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave and from the trials and tribulations of life and death. (Saheeh Muslim)
“I seek refuge in the perfect and complete words of Allah from every Satan and the venomous reptile and from every evil eye.” (Saheeh Bukhari)

O Allah! Indeed I seek refuge in You from inaction, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, extreme old age, hardness of heart, heedlessness, humiliation, destitution; and I seek refuge in you from poverty, disbelief, disobedience, opposition, hypocrisy, a bad reputation and showing off and I seek refuge in You from deafness, dumbness, insanity, leprosy, leucoderma and from all bad diseases.
