The definition according to Websters Dictionary of religion is ‘a system of faith in and worship of a deity’. As Christians our faith and worship is to a God who says throughout scripture ‘I AM’. We believe in a higher deity than all others.
There are countless examples through the Bible where prophets of other gods tried to disprove our God, needless to say they never worked. Just look at the story of Elijah who went up against 100+ prophets of Baal. The prophets of Baal cried out to their god over and over again ripping at their clothes and skin and yet their big statue of their god did nothing. Then the God of Elijah reigned fire down from heaven to dry up the altar which had been drenched.
I wouldn’t say Christians are arrogant. I would say that they are confident in what they believe. The difference in our religion versus the others is that ours is right. God throughout the Bible destroys all the other gods that the people of that time worshipped and in due time will once again reign supreme over all the gods people worship today.
Christians shouldn’t be arrogant towards people though. Jesus set the example on how our attitudes should be towards our neighbors. We as believers in Christ should love God first and foremost, but then love our neighbor as ourselves. I don’t think the way to go when talking to someone of another belief should be one of arrogance and selfishness, but one of love. The same love God has given each and everyone of us by putting his one and only son up on the cross for all the sins of the world.
The one thing that Christians have over the rest of the religions out there is that our God is not a statue, an idea, or a place, but He is a living God who cares for and speaks to those who choose to believe in Him. The God of a Christian is not dead or sitting on a mantle, He is speaking to people’s hearts who cry out to Him for salvation and turn to Him in true repentance. A true Christian doesn’t have to be arrogant. The infallible word of God can do all the talking. We serve a Humble God, but one who also doesn’t put up with idolatry. Jesus said that He is the Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End.
