Bible Study the Parable of the Prodigal Son

What attitude do we reflect toward God? Is it similar to either or both characteristics of the sons in the parable “The Prodigal Son”.

Let us be thankful, obedient and humble that we are saved by God’s grace. Display the fruit of the Spirit as described in 1 Corthinians 13:4-8. The New King James Version of this verse says, “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.”

Son number one lacked these qualities especially the one described in 1 Corinthians 13:4 (New King James Version Bible) which says, “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up.”

Son number two landed in the pigs pen. God allows some of His children to end up in the pig’s pen that they may come to their senses. We will self-destruct in life without God’s grace.

Let’s live righteously and praise God for His mercy and grace. Remember we all are sinners every single one of us. Romans 3:23 (New King James Version Bible) says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

I am reminded of the verse Romans 2:4 (New King James Version Bible), “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?”

Thank you for your grace, Lord Jesus Christ.
