The series is an interesting one with a story. Before the start of the series, one hundred orphans were sent from Japan to different parts of the world to train to become warriors to become a saint of the Greek goddess Athena. There is the indication that the series has been influenced by Greek mythology.

A boy named Seiya is one of those orphans. He ends up going to the Sanctuary in Greece to become the bronze saint known as Pegasus. The names of the saints given come from various figures of Greek mythology. He meets a girl named Saori Kido, the granddaughter of the person that sent the one-hundred orphans to different parts of the world. Her grandfather died a few years prior. She ends up making a deal with Seiya, whose sister disappeared. If Seiya competes in the Galaxian Wars tournament, Saori would find his sister.

It is also revealed that Saori is the reincarnation of the goddess Athena. The story focuses on the training of the Bronze saints as they train to compete in the Galaxian Wars. The main focus of the story is the tournament and the Sagittarius gold cloth, which is the most powerful Cloth in the series. A lot of the series’ influence comes from Greek mythology and the zodiac.

There is much to do with the “Cosmo” in the series. It is said that the universe is made out of atoms. Humans are also made out of atoms and should be able to utilize the mysterious force between them. In Saint Seiya, each atom within the human body resembles a small solar system. As a result, each human is like a small Cosmo. In the case of the saints, they used their special Cloths to channel such powers. These armors are gifts from the Greek gods.
